Aldwyck Housing Association is planning to more than double the number of homes it builds each year after agreeing a £41m loan with Royal Bank of Scotland.
The association currently develops about 200 homes a year, but plans to increase this to 500.
The loan, which includes £21m of new money, will be used to build homes in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
Aldwyck currently manages about 7000 homes and is one of the Housing Corporation’s 70 elite development partners.
Neil Hadden, the corporation’s deputy chief executive, will join Aldwyck as chief executive in June (HT 18 March, page 9).
