Bennetts Associates: Four Commentaries is a round-up of projects undertaken by the architect behind groundbreaking schemes such as the Wessex Water operations centre and Powergen headquarters.
The book is a chronicle of Bennetts Associates’ work over the past 18 years. Although light on technical data, it provides an insight into the practice’s underlying philosophy of marrying strong architecture with sustainability, while rethinking the way buildings are used.
The scope of the projects covered includes everything from theatres and libraries to out-of-town business parks, corporate headquarters and industrial buildings. Twenty built projects are covered in detail as well as many others at varying stages of design and construction.
The four commentators evaluating the practice’s work deal in turn with construction, structure and form; process; art and architecture; and synthesis and tradition. Illustrated descriptions of each scheme are included.
Bennetts Associates: Four Commentaries is published by Black Dog Publishing and costs £24.95.
