New guidance: flexible building services for office based environments: principles for designers explains how you can reduce building operating costs by using more flexible building services designs which can cope more economically with common changes in use.
Recent research has indicated that 'churn' – the regular movement of staff and changes in office layouts – gives rise to significant costs in many businesses. Building designers and facilities managers are being pressed to address these issues and to ensure that the 'churn' overhead is kept to a minimum.
The guidance will also be of interest to clients, who can benefit from reductions in the cost of office alterations and staff moves, thus freeing money for other business needs and reducing the time and upheaval involved in office moves.
