Launce: I am sure you have been inundated with letters of support with your stance on the RICS (QS News, 1 July).

I offer my congratulations to you and full support to the cause.

I wrote to the president of the RICS in January 2004 and again in 2005 voicing my abhorrence at the subscriptions being demanded from me.

I received curt replies, but nothing was done. I wrote to the RICS magazine in December 2003 – my letter did not get printed.

I feel extremely angry that I am charged double that of a civil engineer, for example, to remain attached to my institution. Four hundred and seventy pounds for God’s sake!

I value the letters after my name and would be happy to pay a retainer of, say, £150 (to include an amount covering governance) and nothing else.

I am delighted that QS News has provided the mouth piece for an open debate on the topic.
