A london thing: London mayor Ken Livingstone opened the second London Conference last weekend with a pledge to stick firm on his demand for 50% affordable housing on new developments. Later in the day Neale Coleman, Livingstone's housing adviser, faced cat calls from the conference floor at a session on making London homes affordable. Delegates called for councils to be allowed to build homes again.
