HULL-BASED INSTALLER John Moore Security has improved the view from a famous historical bridge.
Boothferry Bridge was hailed as a milestone of Edwardian civil engineering and has even been immortalised in song. For 75 years it has swung open and shut, ushering large vessels up and down the River Humber.

A pedestrian right of way across the bridge has sharpened the need for public safety, but the addition of a few static cameras left an incomplete view. The view is improved with an upgrade using a system based on six Orbiter domes from Honeywell.

"Visibility was not excellent anywhere, but there were large sections of the bridge that the operator just couldn't see," said sales and operations director David Javan. "These Orbiters have helped to eliminate blind spots as well as improving overall image clarity. And while the main purpose was public safety, it has also brought significant security benefits, especially in monitoring the walkway for vandalism."

The Orbiters, linked to two monitors in the operator's cabin, are also event triggered by motion detectors on the pedestrian walkway.
