ABB is to restructure its business around customer groups in an aggressive strategy to deliver more value and generate better top line and bottom line performance.
Four customer divisions – Utilities, Process Industries, Manufacturing and Consumer Industries, and Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals – aim to provide end-users with faster and easier access to ABB's services.

ABB Building Technologies, the m&e contracting arm, will form part of the Manufacturing and Consumer Industries division.

ABB reported earnings up 23% in 2000, despite a 6% dip in revenues. Orders were up by 3%.
