Mowlem, the construction and support services company has strengthened its technical capability with the acquisition of Lincoln-based M&E specialist R Daubney & Co for £5.5m.
The M&E firm will be renamed Daubney Services and operate within Mowlem Support Services as part of Aqumen. Daubney will work alongside Aqumen's existing M&E provider Dudley Bower in the support service provider's technical division.

Daubney was established 30 years ago and is particularly active in the defence sector. The company has an estimated annual turnover of £20m.

For the past two years Mowlem has been making strategic acquisitions. It has bought a number of niche players including cleaning company Pall Mall in a bid to increase the number of services it offers.

'Daubney falls squarely into this category,' said Mowlem chief executive John Gains. 'It strengthens our M&E capability both geographically and in terms of technical competency.'
