No council in the UK could afford a £340m regeneration from its housing revenue account and if one argues that land will be transferred for nothing, the replacement homes will also be provided by Metropolitan HA and its partners, for nothing.
In a ballot with a 62% turnout (high even by general elections standards these days) 74% voted in favour – an overwhelming message of support if ever I saw one.
This is not a stock transfer or a trickle transfer. It is a regeneration scheme where all existing residents will have new homes.
