Bedford based Addison Design Systems designed, manufactured and installed the windows, screens, doors and canopies on the project to redevelop the head office, retail outlet and restaurant facility of creative kitchenware company Lakeland Limited, in a beautiful lakeside setting in Windemere. The Architects are Hanson Walford Marston.
The redevelopment has involved HansenGlass (tel. 0151 545 3000). The Merseyside processor supplied ThermoSpan structural bolted and ThermoCool high performance glass units for the the main entrance and other important features.
The ThermoSpan units that HansenGlass produced for Phase I comprised 15mm clear toughened inner and 6mm soft coated Low-E toughened outer glass, separated by a 16mm air gap to achieve the necessary thermal performance. 19 mm thick toughened glass was used to form the supporting fins. All glasses were heat soak tested for additional safety.
As well as the main entrance screen, the ThermoSpan system was also utilised by Addison Design to construct a striking drum feature, some five metres tall, which forms part of the restaurant and retail area. HansenGlass is also supplying its ThermoCool insulating glass units for the punched windows. Shading is provided by a bespoke Merlin brise soleil. Addison installed Pro-tec composite alu-timber windows and its own bespoke alu-clad timber windows to complete the project. Addison also sourced glazing from Solaglas and Pilkington when it exceeded its £50k credit rating with Hansen.
Phase I of the project, covering the shop and restaurant, is now complete and the branch is open for business. Addison (tel. 01234 767721) is now working on Phase II, the office area. This is no less impressive, featuring a Geze revolving door and external automatic blinds. www.addison-design.co.uk
