ADT Fire and Security has become one of the first Irish companies to be awarded the prestigious new European Intruder Alarm Systems standard, EN50131.
EN50131 is a complete and comprensive process from the moment a surveyor sets foot inside a customer's premises and includes all stages involved in the design, installation, maintenance and handover of the systems, along with training of the end-user. The new standard becomes compulsory for all intruder alarms companies from March 2004.
Fergal O'Byrne, operations manager for services, securities and IT at the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) said ADT's installation engineers had demonstrated excellent workmanship and professionalism to NSAI inspectors.
The standard includes a risk analysis survey and a technical survey. The risk analysis survey examines the building's structure and identifies the contents to be protected and must be carried out by the installation company or designer and the technical survey must be carried out on every item of equipment to be installed in the premises.
