The air conditioning market looks set for growth over the next four to five years, according to the most recent report from Market & Business Development (MBD).

The 140-page report covers all aspects of air conditioning including packaged, close control and portable systems.

Highlights of the report include a predicted 7% growth in 2001 for the close control sector. Sales are expected to increase to £35.1 million in 2001, with further growth of at least 1% in 2002. The forecast for sales in 2004 is £38.9 million.

MBD predicts growth of 9% between 2001 and 2005 for packaged chillers. This would take sales to a level of £65.7 million.

And in the variable air volume market, overall growth of 19% is anticipated during the forecast period, taking sales to £12.6 million in 2005.

Growth is also expected in the constant volume sector up to 2004 when it is expected to fall to around £10.4 million. However growth is expected to return in 2005.

Sales of fan terminal units are anticipated to grow by 5% to £31 million by 2005.
