Hyde Southbank Homes is one of the associations mentioned in your article on Lambeth, which compared the performance of large and small associations working in the borough.
Hyde Southbank was established in 1999 as a community-based housing association to invest in and manage 2400 homes under a stock transfer from Lambeth council.
Hyde Southbank is now part of a large group – Hyde – but it has two local offices in Lambeth. One, which manages 2400 homes, is based in Stockwell and the other, managing 850 homes, in Kennington Park.
The association is locally controlled, with more than 70 locally based staff and a board of management that puts residents at the heart of decision making.
But being part of a large group has benefits when it comes to IT, human resources, finance and development. Stockwell’s first key-worker housing was developed this year using Hyde’s modular system and benefited from group expertise in this area.
Our latest tenants’ survey found that more than 70% of tenants visited our offices in Lambeth over the past year and this was one of the preferred methods of contact.
Locally based housing services that respond to tenants’ needs are not the preserve of small associations. Hyde Southbank is able to provide local services for costs well below the sector average.
