Gus MacDonald has been appointed export sales manager for Honeywell Security's Intruder Division. He brings many years of extensive experience in export sales as well as a background in security to the role. Gus joins Honeywell to develop existing and new sales channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for the award-winning Galaxy control panel range.

Synectics – the CCTV video matrix, control and digital recording equipment manufacture – has expanded its customer support team with the addition of an internal sales co-ordinator. Scott England's role encompasses across-the-board sales administration activities, including sales order and quote processing and loan equipment scheduling for end users.

Quadrant Video Systems – the national CCTV and access control installer – has appointed Ian Moore as sales director in an internal promotion. Responsible for building on Quadrant's position within the town and city centre surveillance market, Moore's objective is to focus his attentions on expanding the company's presence within other key market sectors for the business.

CCTV specialist Cyberlyne Communications (based in Bishop Auckland, County Durham) has added to its sales team. Mike Sixsmith joins the company as a key account manager, dealing with clients throughout the UK. Mike has been involved in the contract furniture industry for over 20 years, dealing with local authorities, health service and major office furniture dealers.

Dr Tony Shepherd, formerly head of UK security and fire for the company Robert Bosch, has been appointed general manager for the 1st On-Site Security Group. Tony boasts many years' experience in security protection and training, having previously served with both military and civilian police forces. He will drive the manned guarding business of the company along with devising specialist training.

Europlex Technologies has appointed five new members of staff to technical, logistics and marketing roles in a move that demonstrates the company's commitment to delivery a high level of service to its customer base throughout Europe. Tom Collins and Niall Flynn have joined as field technical support engineers to provide telephone and on-site service for customers in Ireland, the UK and throughout Europe. Both have extensive experience in the intruder alarm, CCTV and access control industries and will strengthen the existing team by providing additional resources for training, installation and troubleshooting. Meantime, Hannah Broadhurst has been appointed as the sales and marketing co-ordinator for the UK. She will support the sales operation by ensuring that enquiries, quotations and other information requests are dealt with efficiently. John Wright has become sales and logistics co-ordinator, which includes responsibility for the processing and shipment of all sales orders worldwide, while Troy Sullivan has been appointed sales executive responsible for a range of products designed for the Irish end user market.

Chris Koetsier has joined Honeywell Security as a CCTV stream leader based at the company's UK headquarters in Runcorn. Chris has a wealth of CCTV knowledge, most recently gained by working as a sales manager for Honeywell-Ultrak in South Africa, in which role he nearly doubled Ultrak's sales there in two years. Chris' new tasks will be to co-ordinate CCTV activities across the organisation, and to develop an international plan for growing the CCTV business.

Former UK Chief of Defence Staff, General Lord Guthrie, has joined the Board of Directors of military and police training solutions company Advanced Interactive Systems (AIS). He will advise on a range of security issues involving the police, military, defence and aviation sectors.

Tariq Ahmed has joined UK-based biometrics firm ISL Biometrics after seven years as the northern European sales director for Check Point Software Technologies. ISL Biometrics is a leader in the design and manufacture of biometric authentication and application access solutions. Tariq takes on the role of European vice-president of sales.

ArmorGroup – the global supplier of premium security services – has appointed the Rt Hon Malcolm Rifkind KCMG QC as non-executive chairman. Sir Malcolm was of course Foreign Secretary between 1995 and 1997, and Secretary of State for Defence between 1992 and 1995. He also held a number of other senior posts in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for Transport and the Scottish Office.

Following on from a substantial increase in UK sales over the past few years, leading CCTV manufacturer Pelco has announced a further expansion of its UK operation with the appointment of Richard Allen. Reporting directly to UK regional manager Kevin Smith, Richard assumes responsibility for business development activities across the entire range of Pelco products in the region spanning the Midlands through to the north.

Delegates attending courses at Tavcom Training's Hampshire hq now have the benefit of a full-time technical assistant to support them during their studies. Roger Heap – recently appointed Tavcom's technical manager – is a highly experienced security systems engineer who has been servicing and maintaining CCTV, intruder alarm, access control and fire prevention equipment for the past 25 years.

MaxxVision – the specialist supplier of bespoke CCTV solutions – has launched a UK-based sister company to MaxxVision Gmbh (Europe's leading supplier of OEM cameras to the security marketplace). Steve Hearn and Tony Jackson will direct the newly-formed Warwickshire-based concern.
