Kingston University has awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science to Sir Martin Laing, (left) the former chairman of the John Laing plc construction group and a key campaigner for sustainable development practices. Sir Martin was the third generation of the family to hold the position of chairman and helmed John Laing plc through an intense period of change for the industry.
Three McDonald's construction managers are the first to complete a brand new NVQ Level 5 in Construction Project Management, the highest in the NVQ framework. Peter Wall, Gareth Jones and Richard England have also become chartered CIOB members based on their NVQ qualifications. Together they have have managed hundreds of projects, including 300 new restaurant openings.
