The Council of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has announced the appointment of Jim Harrower as chairman of the BSIA. Jim succeeds outgoing chairman Tim Geddes, who has completed his two-year term (but now takes on the chairmanship of SITO). Jim has been heavily involved with the BSIA for over a decade. A former chairman from 1992 to 1996, he has also served as vice-chairman of the Worcester-based organisation since July last year.
Anchor Security Solutions is taking a pro-active approach to the changes due to come into force as a result of private sector licensing. Management of the transition towards a regulated industry is crucial, and lies behind the company’s decision to appoint Jason Wale as general manager for the North West and Midlands regions. A former officer with the South African Military Police, Jason previously worked for OCS Group and Group 4 in the South East Asia region.
Wembley Arena, Conference and Exhibition Centre has appointed Graham Arnott as site security co-ordinator. Graham comes to Wembley with 14 years’ experience in the security industry. Most recently, he served as security co-ordinator at the Festival Place Shopping Centre
in Basingstoke where he was responsible for the safety and security of visitors, tenants and staff. At Wembley, Graham will be working to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors and staff while continually looking to enhance the customer-focused security strategy.
The Securiplan Group has announced the appointment of former Group managing director Phillip Ullmann to the position of chief executive. At the same time, Steve Boyden becomes group managing director with direct responsibility for all of the guarding businesses across the company’s corporate, retail and shopping centre divisions. The appointments are intended to consolidate the Group’s leadership following a period of sustained organic growth which has witnessed Securiplan gain in excess of £11 million of new business during the first half of 2004 (including contracts with Shop Direct and WH Smith).
In line with the company’s continued growth and expansion in the UK, Honeywell Security’s sales director Mick Goodfellow has announced two appointments on the sales team. Paul Holdsworth – the new northern area sales manager for the Galaxy control panel ranges – boasts 22 years’ experience in the alarms sector, while Andrew Tuck (a corporate account professional) joins the company as sales manager of the IntelliSense range specifically for the specifier market.
Iain Black has joined specialist facilities management concern Romec as group safety, health and environment manager. Iain will now be responsible for the practical interpretation of Romec’s policy on safety, health and environmental matters at the company’s numerous sites throughout the UK, in addition to looking after employees working at customer locations.
Access and video control solutions specialist Bewator has appointed Alistair Enser as its new UK sales director for CCTV and access control systems. Reporting to UK managing director Bob Cotterill, Enser’s main focus will be on driving forward the organisation’s new integrated security offerings. Alistair brings 12 years’ industry experience with him, having worked for key players including Norbain, Ultrak MaxPro and Richardson Electronics.
CDV (UK) has acquired Link Technology Manufacturing Ltd, as well as the Link.net access control and access management product range. As part of the deal, John Mather – managing director of Link Technology Manufacturing – has joined CDV (UK) as technical director. Mather will continue the ongoing development of the Link.net system and its integration with CDV’s current range.
Bruno Paillusson has joined IBP International as its technical manager. A former blasting engineer with ICI Explosives and later Orica (UK), Bruno will be responsible for all technical matters with the Surrey-based security company.
The qualified electrician spent five years in the French navy, including two in the submarine division based in his home region of Brittany. He later joined ICI Security Systems, working on anti-robbery systems for a number of leading banks and financial institutions.
Honeywell Access Systems – the leading supplier of access control systems – has appointed William Burr as its training and technical support engineer. Will’s experience gained during his time at Westinghouse, and as a senior development engineer for SDA Protec (where he worked with Honeywell’s access systems for five years), makes for a welcome addition to the company’s worldwide technical support team.
Robert Goldwater has been appointed sales director at Masternaut, the company whose popular web-based information service is designed to optimise the management of mobile resources, and provides benefits to security companies who place a heavy reliance on patrol and response vehicles. Robert will be managing the fast-expanding sales team at the company. He joined Masternaut two years ago when the company’s UK headquarters opened in Leeds.
Cinario – the software integration concern offering intelligent and secure management solutions to the corporate business sector – has recently opened a UK office in New Bond Street, London in order to capitalise on the interest shown by the market for its Cinario Enterprise Manager system. The UK country manager for the operation is Neil Swinney. Neil is working closely alongside Charlie Sherlock, the company’s chief executive, to further expand this market.
The International Security Management Association has elected Control Risks Group chief executive Nigel Churton as its president for 2004-2005.
