Manned security solutions provider Securiplan has appointed a director to head up its systems division. Pete Chegwin, a former employee of ADT Fire and Security, has spent the past three years with Reliance High-Tech as account manager on its BAe Systems contract. Mike Goodman also joins the Hillingdon-based company as director of retail solutions. Mike worked for J Sainsbury plc for no less than 30 years, setting up the ‘Stockwise Retail’ project in 1997.

In readiness for Security Industry Authority licensing in 2005, Ultimate Security Services has appointed John Wilkinson as project manager for licensing and training. John began his career with the Military Police before moving on to Surrey Constabulary. More recently he’s been working for a variety of blue chips in the areas of training and development, risk management and product liability. Steve Hall – a founding member of the company alongside chief executive Martin Edwards – is Ultimate’s new md. He’ll now focus on operational and administrative areas for the Essex-based contractor.

As part of its European expansion plan, CCTV specialist JVC Professional (Europe) has promoted Yash Patel to executive director, CCTV Europe. Patel – a member of The Company of Security Professionals – was formerly sales and marketing director for the company, and has been highly instrumental in the overall success of CCTV system sales across the UK and Europe. To support Yash in his endeavours, Lee Elliott takes on the role of product manager for CCTV Europe. Lee has worked at JVC for over ten years. All other UK product areas – including video, presentation systems and storage – are now consolidated into the Professional Video UK operation which is headed up by Ian Scott.

Samsung Techwin – the CCTV solutions provider – has recruited Yvonne Francis as its UK marketing manager. Yvonne was previously marketing manager at PI Vision and Verint (Loronix) prior to taking a year’s sabbatical. Aside from producing all marketing materials for the company, Yvonne will be working closely with the company’s numerous distributors to make sure that installers and end users receive total support for every project they undertake.

Phil Edwards, a former director of the Dixons Group and an associate director of Reliance Security Services, has become the new chairman of the Midlands Regional Crime Initiative. During his time at Reliance, Phil spent a four-year secondment as business advisor to the Crime Prevention Agency of the Home Office. Phil takes over the chairmanship from Sir Geoffrey Dear.

Thor Technologies has appointed Michael Burling as managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining the company, Michael was the senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Anthropics Technologies, where he was responsible for worldwide sales, marketing and business development strategies. He has also held senior roles with Entrust and Wang Australia.

Andrew Wallace is now the chief executive at COE Group plc, the CCTV systems provider at the heart of the London congestion charging scheme. A science graduate of Cambridge University, Andrew boasts 20 years’ experience of video electronics, digital network services and software development. He has spent the past five years as marketing director at Pace Micro Technology plc.

Quadrant Video Systems has announced the appointment of Ron Rhodes as the company’s major systems manager. Armed with 25 years’ experience of the security sector – gained at Wright Security, Photo-Scan and ADT Fire and Security – Ron will now conduct site surveys and devise project tender bids while focusing on major systems business-related contracts.

Following its successful relocation to Cambridge, Codeguard Security – manufacturer of the renowned randomised scrambler keypads – has appointed Paul Norrington as its general manager and director. Norrington has previously worked for Schlumberger, BAe and Electrocomponents, and has been tasked with ensuring that Codeguard is the ‘brand of choice’ among end users.

Security installer Reflex, which specialises in CCTV projects, has appointed Dave Kynman to the newly-created position of group sales director. Dave has a wide-ranging remit for all sales and marketing activity across both the group’s design and installation and service and maintenance divisions. For the past three years Dave has served as a director at industry giant Norbain. He also boasts a significant knowledge and experience of various key vertical markets, including the public and transport sectors and telecommunications.

Video network specialist COE is further strengthening its customer sales and support team with the appointment of a UK sales manager. Pos Kamintgi, who has more than 20 years’ experience in systems integration, electronic distribution and telecomms, will head up the company’s continued expansion in transport, city centre, public and private sector CCTV projects. Pos joins COE from systems integrator Vossloh IT, where he was head of sales and marketing across the UK.

Leading security specialist Mul-T-Lock (UK) has appointed Angela Stanbridge as marketing communications manager at its head office in Corby, Northamptonshire, looking after all end user publications and promotions.

Val Stokes is the newly-elected president of the Master Locksmiths Association. Val is head of Dennis Lock and Keys in London, a company founded by her father some 45 years ago.
