1. Colin Critchlow
Midas Group has strengthened its Construction division with the appointment of Critchlow as its new divisional manager.
2. Graham Robertson
Glasgow Caledonian University’s School of the Built and Natural Environment has appointed Robertson, technical manager, Bovis Lend Lease (Scotland) as an external examiner. The role will see Robertson check examination papers for modules in the Construction Management Honours Degree course.
3. Vic Mosca
Cyril Sweett has named Mosca as project director responsible for managing the development of services to the Life Sciences Sector. His experience in the Life Sciences Sector has included senior roles with Pharmaceutical Engineering & Design, Tanvec and latterly the pharmaceutical consulting division of Bovis Lend Lease.
4. Sean Millichamp
Linford Group has appointed Millichamp as its new business development director. He will be responsible for all pre-contract functions at the Lichfield-based construction company, including business development, estimating, buying, and design and build.
5. Jacqui Langley-White
...is the Association of Women in Property's new chairman. A partner specialising in PFI in UK law firm Addleshaw Goddard, she has been involved in PFI and PPP projects since the mid 1990s. Her PFI experience is backed up by expertise in a wide range of commercial contracts and her background as a construction and projects lawyer.
6. Colum Fitzsimons
Cambridgeshire-based Twigden Homes has named Fitzsimons as planning manager. He joins after 14 years’ experience in Local Authorities’ planning departments.
Two men climbing the ladder...
Chris Houchin is to be the new business development director for Bovis Lend Lease’s UK South division. He joins the company from the Balfour Beatty subsidiary Heery International, where he was marketing manager. Houchin has technical as well as marketing experience. He entered the industry as a trainee with Wimpey Construction in 1972, remaining with that company for 12 years in both site and sales roles.
McNicholas Construction has appointed Matt Lonergan as the civils, mechanical and electrical division commercial manager for the South, providing support to divisional commercial manager John Hallas.
...but this lot have fallen right off it
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has expelled Staines-based Shopland Building Services Beckenham-based Chartwell Construction after both firms failed in their appeals to remain members.
The London Regional Complaints Committee booted out Shopland for breaching health and safety requirements, providing poor customer service and bringing the FMB into disrepute. Peter Shaw trading as Chartwell Construction was also expelled for failing to comply with the FMB's Code of Conduct and bringing the FMB in to disrepute.
Laura Hayes, FMB regional director said: “The conduct of these fims was not consistent with standards expected of FMB members.”
