The directors of Reliance Security Services have announced the appointment of Julian Nicholls as group managing director. Julian was previously managing director of the facilities management and support services businesses within BET and of the European moving services business within the National Freight Corporation. More recently, he has served as the chief executive of two venture capital-backed groups.

Security systems integrator Integralis has appointed Nigel Rix as regional director for the London City region. An experienced sales and new business development manager, Nigel has worked in the IT sector for over 18 years. Previously, he held senior business development roles with Stonesoft, Network Associates and Vigilante.

Gerard Brogan has been appointed operations director of Security International, the Isleworth-based security consultancy with acknowledged expertise of the impact of the privacy laws on both security and the investigative process. In his new role, Gerard will be responsible for the development of the criminal record checking service provided by Security International, which is a registered umbrella body with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).

StreamShield Networks – the Internet-based, real-time content security solutions provider – has announced the appointment of John Wanklyn as vice president with responsibility for sales and marketing. John has held numerous executive sales management positions at leading telecommunication equipment companies, including FORE Systems, UB Networks and Rank Xerox.

One of the country’s leading providers of in-cab security, Protek-dor, has once again strengthened its management team with the appointment of Quinton Gordon as sales manager. 28-year-old Gordon – who hails from South Africa – has held positions at Reuters and Tradeworld. Security managers in charge of vehicle fleets will be familiar with the company’s Kab-gard, Lok-gard and Sleep-gard product ranges, and it will be Gordon’s role to raise awareness of violent crime within the transportation industry while offering suitable solutions.

Esoteric – the Guildford-based security and covert investigations company – has appointed Gill Head as sales and marketing manager. Gill has an impressive track record, having worked for several major global brands including Heinz and RJ Reynolds Tobacco. Most recently, Gill has been on secondment to Mitsubishi, where she worked on specific projects in the patents and inventions department.

Trevor Perks has joined Camlock Systems as product development manager with a remit to contribute fully to the company’s substantial new product development programme, as well as its expansion into new markets across the UK and overseas. Having qualified in production engineering, Trevor trained with lock manufacturer Josiah Parkes & Sons. In 1991, he joined Lowe & Fletcher as technical and product development manager. Two of the systems he developed there are now patented in his name.

Magnus Ahlberg has stepped down as UK managing director of mobile security solutions provider Pointsec to be replaced by Martin Allen. During his 25 years in business, Martin has driven the sales and marketing processes for a number of prestigious software houses and high-tech concerns including LynuxWorks Inc, Synchrologic Inc, the Microware Systems Corporation and Verilog (UK), in the process building strong channel partnerships across the EMEA region.

Honeywell has announced the appointment of Alan Samuels as managing director of its video and access control systems businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In his new role, Alan will assume direct responsibility for sales, marketing and service requirements spanning all Honeywell product brands across both lines of the business. Previously, Alan has worked for BT (in sales and marketing) and IBM, where he held various managerial roles in both the US and in Europe. He joined Honeywell last November as marketing director for Honeywell Security.

Payne – the tear tape, coated film and security solutions concern created from the recent merger of PP Payne, Morane and Laminex – has promoted John Thompson to director of finance at its hq in Banbury, Oxfordshire. John, who had previously been working for the Filtrona accounts team, joined PP Payne in 2002, progressing to the role of UK management accountant. In addition to his current responsibilities for PP Payne’s UK financial reporting and control mechanisms, John has played a significant part in developing the use of Fourth Shift’s enterprise software (and its reporting capabilities) in the areas of finance and manufacturing.

Mick Goodfellow is the new business leader in the UK for Honeywell Security and Electronics’ intruder alarm business. Mick is responsible for the UK sales of the Galaxy, IntelliSense and ADE ranges of intruder alarm systems and peripheral products. He leads a sales force of 27 area representatives and managers, and also assumes responsibility for the training department and its duo of dedicated trainers. Mick joined Honeywell 11 years ago following six years in the security systems distribution sector.

Erik Hostetler joins Group 4 Technology – the leading developer of advanced security management systems with over 150,000 installations worldwide – as the organisation’s chief graphic designer. Hostetler will now develop a creative identity for Group 4 Technology (and AMAG Technology in North America) on a global basis.

The Security and Custom Electronics side of Honeywell’s operation in Europe, the Middle East and Africa is now being taken care of by new managing director Johnny Allia. Allia will be responsible for sales, marketing and product development across all Honeywell Intruder products.
