Alan Hope

Hope becomes chief executive of the Midas Group. He was previously managing director of Midas Projects (UK) Ltd. In his new role Hope will take responsibility for three of the Midas Group companies, Midas Projects, Midas Construction and Midas Property Services.

Paul McLaughlin

Also at Midas, McLaughlin, the former national operations director for Carillion, has been appointed as a divisional director of Midas Projects.

David Stewart and John Smith

Yorkshire developers Orion Homes have promoted site managers, Smith and Stewart, to customer care manager and construction manager, respectively. Stewart, who joined Orion 17 years ago as a trainee site manager, will now oversee the work of seven site managers at the company's developments across Yorkshire.

Paul Chesworth and Paul Jackson

Construction and property consultancy RLF is promoting Chesworth and Jackson to the position of Partner in Liverpool. They will assume formal responsibility for the management and development of the Liverpool operation, which now handles local projects for clients including the Home Office and the Liverpool Land Development Company.

Peter Commins has been appointed chairman of the Construction Confederation, taking over from Roy Wakeman. Peter is MD of Pettifer Construction.

Willmott Dixon has taken on George Martin, the BRE’s director of sustainability, as associate director.

Gary Turner becomes a director at Carillion Business Services. With the company since 1975, he became commercial director for Carillion Building in 2003.

Trett Consulting has strengthened the senior team at its Stirling office. Sandy Dickson and Robert Burt have been promoted to senior associate director, and William Burns is promoted to associate director.

Knowles welcomes Adam Tomlinson to its Healthcare Division.

...and major movements at mace

Something interesting is going on here: Terry Nea and Terry Spraggett have been headhunted from from Bovis to support Mace Plus, the new major projects contracting arm. Nea is commercial director and Spraggett is construction director. Steve Root has joined Como, Mace’s interiors arm, from Bellwater, bringing John Jeffery, David Laidlaw, Nicholas Russell and Paul de Ste Croix with him. Also, Carl Wellstead joins Macro, the FM division, as commercial director.
