Increased demand for approval from security and fire services providers has led to the recruitment of three new inspectors at the National Security Inspectorate (NSI). Richard Ley – a qualified auditor for ISO 9000 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) – and Mike Potts (a qualified lead environmental and clinical auditor for the past ten years) have joined the NSI’s Guarding Division, and will focus on those contractors seeking Gold level approval. In addition, John Davidson has joined the Systems Division. Most recently, John has been conducting several QMS audits against ISO 9001:2000.

A former British detective who has travelled the world fighting CD and DVD pirating has joined the Global Intelligence Group. 47-year-old Peter Wallace will operate as a director at the firm’s Bristol offices, working on new methods for protecting the property of artistes, music and film companies. The one-time member of Avon and Somerset CID has most recently been head of security and compliance for an international supplier of media content where he was responsible for anti-piracy measures and media security.

Richard Ellis – the former head of New Scotland Yard’s Art and Antiques Squad – is joining Swift-Find, the only security company offering a global online real-time registry of new, used and stolen valuables (a critical tool by which insurers, finance houses, various law enforcement agencies and museums can verify the authenticity of valuable goods prior to purchase). Having served as a career officer with the Metropolitan Police Service for over 30 years, Richard became general manager of Christie’s Fine Art Security Services in 1999. Since 2002, he has been an independent risk consultant on art.

Security management and biometric systems specialist Nedap has a new senior account manager for its UK operation. Daryn Flynn joins the team with a remit to enlarge AEOS’ market share and support the company’s AEOS partners. Daryn has been an active player in the sector for 15 years, having worked with a variety of manufacturers and installation concerns.

TSSI Systems – one of the leading suppliers of technology solutions for the identity verification of personnel and documents – has announced the appointment of Stewart Hefferman as chief operations officer. Hefferman’s primary goal will be to drive “aggressive growth” through a “renewed focus on core strengths”. He holds an MBA from Cranfield University and a PhD in solid state physics gained at Glasgow University. Stewart previously served as the company’s systems director.

An expansion of its UK marketing communications team has occurred at Bosch Security Systems with the appointment of Samantha Dean as marketing comms manager. Responsible for all aspects of publicity, Samantha heads up a department which has also just appointed Leigh Hutchinson and Christine Cooper as marketing account support executives.

The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has appointed Joe Milton as certification manager covering fire extinguishers, water mist systems and sprinkler systems. Joe had been with the British Standards Institution for the past 17 years as a scheme manager, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in testing, certification and committee work to his new role. Indeed, Joe is a member of the FSH2 UK Technical Committee.

Hi-Sec International – the provider of ‘smart’ security products incorporating a range of security management systems, access control and intruder alarm solutions and video verification set-ups – welcomes Jorgen Bo Krogh as its next international sales manager. Reporting to managing director Martin Hildebrandt, Jorgen will work to expand the company’s international dealer network while also managing links with distribution partners.

Natalie Callender has been appointed product marketing manager at Connexion2, the developer and manufacturer of the highly-acclaimed Identicom primary lone worker protection device. In her new role, Natalie will be responsible for developing and implementing a range of marketing activities focused solely on the Identicom brand.

The Right Honourable Bruce George MP has accepted the National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU)’s offer for him to become Patron of the organisation. Bruce – who has long been a staunch supporter of the private security sector and its many initiatives – has addressed previous NASDU Conferences and Annual General Meetings. He also officially ‘opened’ the organisation for business back in 1996.

Online identity and digital asset protection concern RSA Security has announced Jo Pettifer’s appointment as international channel programs manager. Jo’s responsibilities will include managing and developing the recently re-launched RSA SecurWorld Partner Program, and enabling channel partners to grow their business through selling and supporting the company’s identity and access management solutions.

Two key appointments have been made at Droitwich-based training company Train 4 Security. Jo Ludlow, who takes over as centre manager, will be using nine years of experience gained at SITO in co-ordinating all training activity. At SITO, Jo was tasked with developing national occupational standards and qualifications. In addition, Dorota Chandrala from Poland joins as European services manager. Dorota will liaise with training applicants from Eastern Europe on issues including security screening.
