The crime reduction manager for Leeds City Council's Community Safety Department - John Birkenshaw - has been appointed chairman of the Raid-control Trust. He succeeds Alan Townsend MBE, who becomes president of the initiative. Birkenshaw is a former head of the West Yorkshire Police Crime Reduction Unit.

TPS - the design and project management division of Carillion Business Services - has appointed Shaun Carter as managing director to succeed Paul Reeder, who has joined the company's operation in Dubai. Shaun has been with Carillion for over ten years.

The British Security Industry Association has appointed two regional managers to improve the support services it provides to members. Chris Pinder - who has been with the BSIA for eight years - becomes regional manager for the South while also continuing to facilitate the Export Council and Human Resources Committee. Regional manager for the North is Daren Wood. For his part, Daren will continue to facilitate the Security Consultancies, Information Destruction, Cash and Property Marking and Physical Security Equipment Sections.

Formerly an employee of both Chubb Security Personnel and The Shield Guarding Company, Neill Catton has now been appointed operations manager at CIS Security. He'll be managing the guarding company's team of contract managers. Neill is to work alongside CIS' newly-appointed customer services director Tony Graves.

Audiotel International - a leader in the field of electronic eavesdropping countermeasure systems development - has announced the appointment of Bernie Connor as managing director to replace Ian Roberts. Connor joins from the ComputerCab Group plc, where he held a number of senior management positions including divisional managing director.

Electronic access control systems specialist Paxton Access has appointed Mark Thompson as development director. An engineering graduate with over 20 years' experience in the electronics sector, Mark was formerly md of Aston Broadcast Systems and served as technical director at Aston Electronic Designs.

CCTV systems manufacturer Videotec has recently appointed Nicola Risi and Davide Boschetti as area sales managers. Nicola takes charge of southern Europe, the Middle East and Latin American markets while Davide concentrates on northern Europe and Germany.

Leon Rockall takes on the role of sales executive for the southern region at JVC, tasked with promoting the company's comprehensive ranges of CCTV and IP network-based products. Rockall also has to maintain and strengthen existing accounts while developing new business.

CCTV solutions developer Merit Li-Lin has appointed Mike Boughey as Midlands area account manager with a key responsibility for providing support to both new and existing customers. Boughey has seven years' experience within the sector, having worked at Secom and in the sales division at ADT.

Cooper Security has announced the appointment of David Ward to the newly-created position of product and sales manager for specialist systems. He'll take charge of TCP/IP communication systems, the Xeridyne detectors, AXXESSID access control systems and assorted fire detection products.

Sound signalling specialist Klaxon has appointed Sara Mudalige as its new sales engineer. Sara studied engineering at undergraduate level (and management at post-graduate level) at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Her new role focuses on generating sales leads by analysing potential market behaviour, maintaining existing customer accounts and dealing with technical queries from consultants and end users.

Chalfont St Peters-based Frontline Security Solutions - specialist in the design, supply, installation and maintenance of access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems - has appointed two sales engineers. Alex Stavro and Daniel Solomons have joined the team in response to a substantial increase in demand for integrated security solutions.

British Approval for Fire Equipment (BAFE) - the organisation dedicated to improving standards in the fire protection industry - has appointed Phil Toase CBE as its new chairman. Phil takes over the role from Ken Knight CBE.
