New chairperson for Matrics

Andrea Forsythe, an associate director at QS firm Durnien.com, has been named Northern Ireland chairman of Matrics, the group of RICS members under the age of 35 which has 1,000 members. Forsyth said: “I am delighted to become the chairperson of RICS Matrics. It is a great source of support and training to students, trainee surveyors and chartered surveyors.”

Bates moves to McBains Cooper

McBains Cooper has appointed Adrian Bates as director of cost management. Bates is based at the company’s London office and will be responsible for developing the growing cost management division. Prior to this, Bates ran his own multi-disciplinary practice where he was responsible for cost and project management on a range of schemes for organisations such as Emirates, KLM and American Airlines.

Three new seniors at Ridge

Ridge has appointed three new senior professionals. Peter Dickens joins the Oxford office as senior M&E QS while the Reading office takes on senior chartered QS Peter Frank and Neil Cook, who joins the company as building surveyor.

Panton Sargent expands its team

Worcester-based architect Panton Sargent has boosted its QS team with three new appointments, including two Zimbabweans. Tinofara Mupasi studied in Cape Town before moving to the UK in 2004. Tendai Mandizvidza graduated from the University of Central England in 2005 and joins the firm as assistant QS. The company has also brought in Jonathan Byard, who has considerable experience in education, retail, ecclesiastical and housing work.
