Attention apprentice installers …
you could be receiving one of the installation sector's top honours at a prestigious industry event this year.
The British Security Industry Association is inviting nominations from electronic security companies and colleges for its Apprentice Security System Installer Awards 2005.
Sponsored for the third year running by Jobcentre Plus, the awards highlight the crucial role that training plays in equipping young people with the necessary skills to become top quality security systems installers.
Three national winners will be selected to receive their awards at the BSIA's prestigious Annual Luncheon on June 22 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Said BSIA Chief Executive, David Dickinson: "Nominees for these awards will have shown outstanding aptitude on their courses. They will be committed to quality, have a strong grasp of theory and demonstrate excellent customer service skills."
The awards are designed to encourage the apprentices as they are just starting out in their careers and also pay tribute to the support they get from their companies, from colleges and other training providers.
Sue Moore, Employer Services Director, Jobcentre said the awards recognised the dedication and enthusiasm of new apprentices and highlighted installer job opportunities to a wider audience.
To nominate an apprentice, your company must be certified for installing by a UKAS-accredited body. Installers of intruder alarms, closed circuit television and access control equipment are all eligible. The awards are more suited to the level of a third year apprentice, but particularly outstanding second year candidates will also be considered.
The deadline for nominations is April 4 2005.
Colleges may also submit nominations.
Application forms can be downloaded at www.bsia.co.uk/aia_intro.html.
