Chief Constable Richard Childs of the Association of Chief Police Officers has switched on what is claimed to be the most sophisticated alarm receiving centre in the United Kingdom
It was built by Initial Monitoring in Burnley.

The ARC's team of 100 staff will serve more than 100,000 sites across the UK, including shops, warehouses, factories and offices.

Operators can control CCTV cameras, listen to live audio from on-site microphones and monitor fire and intruder alarms using high speed signalling technologies.

Initial's customers can also use a secure internet connection to log on to the network to view and report on alarm management data for their own sites around the country.

The Burnley ARC has a double door entry system, its own self-contained air conditioning system, and a dual uninterruptible power supply backed up by a generator capable of sustaining operations indefinitely.
