Colin Smith, chief executive of BIW said that it hadn't had a bust up with Asite, and that the decision was the result of feedback from clients. "Our customers were telling us that they wanted to deal directly with us and not through a third party. If they wanted our collaboration service they had to sign up to Asite's procurement service too and they didn't always want it. But we will continue to support all Asite's users of the Information Channel, and to work alongside Asite."
Asite has also signed-up Bidcom's ProjectNet collaboration tool, which is developed by US-based Citadon. Managing director of Asite, Alistair Mellon, said that it had signed up ProjectNet to compliment the Information Channel. "BIW's services are still available through Asite, we have now added Bicom's to that. ProjectNet has $110bn worth of projects on it worldwide. It is a less expensive service than BIW's, with roughly the same capabilities."Asite will provide support and service for ProjectNet.
l Causeway Technologies has launched Causeway Collaboration, a web-based project management tool. It provides collaborative working for the design and construction teams, and creates an archive that can be used by facilities managers.
