A new, highly sophisticated CCTV command and control room, from which images from up to 200 new and existing cameras protecting London's West End can be managed, monitored and reviewed, has been completed by ATEC-Security in the first phase of a project worth nearly £1 million.
Westminster City Council's new CCTV control room, situated in the heart of the West End, is intended to both help reduce the growing risk of crime and produce improved management in prestigious streets and areas, including Regent St, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, China Town, Soho and Covent Garden.

As part of the project, more than 30 new cameras have been installed as well as additional routing and cabling so that images from existing camera installations – notably Oxford Street and Leicester Square – can be linked to and controlled from the same central point. Further schemes at Hungerford Bridge and Belgravia are to be integrated.

Simon Adcock, Managing Director for ATEC-Security, commented: "We are delighted to have been involved in a project that without doubt sets new standards for CCTV. From the work we have undertaken previously with Birmingham and now Westminster, ATEC has fast established a reputation for our expertise in designing and building the most sophisticated control rooms."
