Avocet Hardware Ltd has completed the sale of its electronic security division as part of its strategy to consolidate and develop as one of the UK's leading suppliers of window and door hardware, fixings and fastenings for the PVC-U market, DIY multiples and major builders merchants.

Avocet's Electronic Security Division, launched in 1995, established a comprehensive range of access control and door control systems. Whilst a successful division selling electronic locking products and audio and video entry systems, its sale to Securefast plc, a leading supplier of electro and mechanical locks, will allow Avocet to concentrate on its core businesses, the UK window, door and conservatory industry, and the DIY multiple sector.

Chief Executive of Avocet Hardware Ltd Jim McCarthy commented: ‘Our strategy of focusing our efforts on the window, door and conservatory hardware market in addition to our work with the DIY superstores is well known and the sale of our electronic security division is a key part of that. We are returning to do what we do best - to manufacture and sell the glazing industry's best range of hardware plus fixings and fastenings, backed by a service infrastructure that is not just the industry's best, but World Class. This is a deal that is good for Avocet, its employees and its customers, and for Securefast.'

All of the Avocet staff based at the Southport office will be transferring to the new owner.

We are returning to do what we do best
