CIBSE has been helping young people learn more about the engineering professions this year by running a competition at a careers convention, where its stand attracted a large audience of keen young people.

After successfully entering the engineering quiz (based on a competition format successfully used at the Imagineering Fair promoted by CIBSE Patrons last year), maths and computer studies students from Years 10 and 11 at the Gilberd School, Colchester were presented with book tokens.

CIBSE member Andrew Saville from Leigh on Sea presented the tokens, helped by new CIBSE recruit Chris Lindsey, Managing Director of H and V contractors CH Lindsey and Son Ltd. The firm kindly split the cost of the prizes with CIBSE Home Counties North East region.

Andrew - who, along with former CIBSE President Doug Oughten has been encouraging new entrants to enter the building services industry for some years - has been thinking creatively about how regional committees can establish links with local schools, following ongoing requests from CIBSE Regional Liaison Committee.
