Re: the headline that accompanied the picture of A-level pupils visiting a building site as part of their business studies course (“Chicks with bricks”, 14 May, page 13).

We are all aware of the issues of encouraging diversity in our workforce, and of encouraging women to break through the glass ceiling and achieve a more representative presence in management of housing associations.

Headlines like this do nothing to break stereotypical thinking and only take back a step all the good work that is being done to improve housing’s image.

Housing Today is a good, professional publication and we expect more of it.
