Balfour Beatty has bought energy management specialist Colledge Trundle and Hall for £2.85m in cash

The new business will become part of Balfour Beatty WorkPlace, its facilities management and m&e services division.

Colledge Trundle and Hall (CTH) specialises in the design and installation of automatic energy control systems for buildings and operates in a number of markets that are complementary to Balfour Beatty WorkPlace's core business.

CTH customers include DEFRA, Sainsbury's and the University of Cambridge and, in addition, it is working on a number of PFI schools projects.

The acquisition will enable Balfour Beatty WorkPlace to expand its service in the more complex market of energy management.

Balfour Beatty WorkPlace was re-branded from Haden Building Management last month to reflect its position as a total facilities management provider. Its customers include British Energy, Royal Mail, the Metropolitan Police Authority, the Department for Work and Pensions and BT.

Ian Tyler, Balfour Beatty chief executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome CTH to the Balfour Beatty Group. This acquisition further strengthens the energy management capability available to our customers.”
