Engineering Services arm wins contract for 508-bed acute hospital in Kirkcaldy

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has secured a contract for the mechanical and electrical services work for NHS Fife’s new acute facility at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

The new 508-bed acute hospital is being built adjacent to the existing Victoria Hospital and will house all specialist acute inpatient services for NHS Fife. Services will include a new A&E Department, 11 operating theatres and surgical and medical wards. Construction will be executed in a joint venture with Balfour Beatty.

BBES will deliver the project using the company’s offsite approach which has been successfully employed across many healthcare and other sector projects. Safety, quality and programme benefits will be brought by manufacturing an extensive proportion of the building services at the Modular Systems + offsite manufacturing centres.

The joint venture team has started work on site and the project will be completed in 2011.

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services is the name for the newly-merged Balfour Kilpatrick and Haden Young businesses.
