Forty five attendees from six different European nations were present at the recent Brussels launch of Banknote Watch International (BNWI).

BNWI has been formed as an independent association to support, co-ordinate and monitor the Banknote Watch concept in the UK and those countries that adopt the crime prevention strategy and its concept that “a stained note is probably a stolen note”.

Speaking about the launch, Banknote Watch Trust (UK) chairman (and now also chairman of BNWI) Alan Townsend told SMT: “This is an exciting development. By sharing Best Practice and intelligence we’re closing loopholes that criminals aim to exploit in our cash processing systems.”
