Barnsley stormer: This model of Barnsley is on display this month at the Venice Biennial architectural exhibition as an example of Yorkshire's plans to create world-class towns and cities. The 12 m2 model, by Alsop Architects, comes with sound effects. Architect Will Alsop described Barnsley as the "Tuscany of the North". Regional development agency Yorkshire Forward has commissioned five more architects to make designs for other towns in the region.
