ECA member firm C J Bartley is minus a managing director following the shock departure of Simon Bartley.
C J Bartley is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the MEA Corporation. MEA was formed by the coming together of m&e firms C J Bartley, Rotrax Engineering Services and Total Environmental & Maintenance Services.

Bartley, who was sales and marketing director of MEA until March this year, is the fourth former director to leave MEA since last October. Former Rotrax md and MEA chairman Alan Robson, one-time finance director Robert Clinch and ex-company secretary Bob Evans are the others.

C J Bartley was founded by Charles James Bartley in 1921. Simon was the fourth generation of the family to run the firm. The third, David Bartley, has resigned as a non-executive director.

MEA Corporation has recently conditionally agreed to pay £2.65 million for Bickerton Construction and Drivers Construction from building group Artisan.

MEA also bought the Rippon Joinery division of EC Rippon from Artisan in February this year.

MEA made no comment following the departure of Bartley.
