BEAMA has published its Climate Change White Paper, setting out the opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs in energy networks, buildings and for end-use equipment.

BEAMA believes that a 30% reduction in losses and waste from the electrical sector, equating to almost 6% of the UK primary energy demand, is possible if all of its measures are adopted.

The white paper pinpoints what BEAMA believes industry, government and stakeholders can do to address headline issues currently preventing more carbon savings being made.

BEAMA highlights how a constructive relationship between the industry, the government and its agencies could transform the scope of reducing carbon emissions.

BEAMA director Dr Howard Porter said: “We have consulted with members and industry stakeholders to develop a perspective for the industry, combining its traditional strengths of innovation and safety with the implications of climate change and higher fuel costs.”

Porter continues: “The starting point is an open examination of what both parties can do differently to set a framework for the development and integration of products and technologies that will achieve those carbon and cost savings.”

The BEAMA Climate Change White Paper has been produced in conjunction with CESA (the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association) and LIF (the Lighting Industry Federation).
