Beautiful Battersea: These two tower blocks in Battersea, south London, were the subject of artist Nicholas Byrne's award-winning entry to the annual Singer & Friedlander watercolour competition.

The work, with the bizarre title Under the Paving Stones: The Beach, won Byrne the Young Artist prize.

Byrne explained: "On the face of it, we're looking at living units. Yet there's nobody there – there's no action. I wanted the title to reflect this."
