Beaver Housing Society is to become the second troubled housing association to merge with London & Quadrant Group within a month.
The board of the south-east London registered social landlord chose L&Q from a group of applicants that included Hexagon Housing Association and Hyde Group.

The decision, confirmed on Tuesday, comes after Nucleus joined L&Q last month.

L&Q hopes both mergers will be complete by April next year taking the number of homes controlled by the RSL to well in excess of 40,000.

Nucleus has been under supervision since April after concerns over its performance on property management and development.

Beaver Housing Group controls more than 3000 homes and was put under supervision by the Housing Corporation in September after "serious failings" were found in its governance and management structure.

Despite Beaver's track record, L&Q is expected to keep Beaver's name and ask it to take charge of some L&Q stock.
