DURING MY TERM AS CHAIRMAN OF THE Physical Security Equipment Section at the BSIA, my primary aims are to increase the attendances at Section meetings and make the Committee a more active one in terms of the objectives we set and the work we undertake.
Members of the Physical Security Equipment Section encompass a wide range of different physical security solutions, and as a result it has often been a challenge to find shared aims and objectives. There is certainly much to gain from us speaking with one voice to customer groups including insurers, architects, specifiers, security managers and crime prevention officers. For more information concerning the Physical Security Equipment Section, SMT readers should access its dedicated Home Page at: www.bsia.co.uk/bsia_physical.taf
The key message we must put across is 'Standards' (which is what the BSIA is all about). As a Section we need to raise awareness of the importance of using quality physical security products, and having them installed professionally in accordance with relevant standards.
We also need to take a look at how physical security can complement electronic and manned security to provide holistic solutions for end users.
