Bohle announced the winner of its first Glass Student of the year Awards at the Metropole Hotel, Birmingham, as part of this year's G-Awards on 15 September.
Chris Edwards of Richmond Adult Education College was selected as the overall winner, out of the 129 submissions originally entered into the awards, for his piece Empty Vessel. The award, which will help him to establish a new career in the industry, was presented by Bohle MD Gary Dean, who comments:
‘Chris’s submission seemed to tick all of the right boxes for us, emulating the many facets of glass processing across the board. He undertook many complex techniques and methods to create his piece flawlessly, resulting in a glass sculpture that really captured the empathy of his subject matter perfectly.’ Chris is pictured holding his award with Gary Dean, second left. On the right is the TV impressionist Alistair McGowan, who livened up proceedings with his excellent smut-free humour.
