The new Eurostar interchange stations at Dartford International (in Ebbsfleet) and Stratford International – due to serve east and north east London – are being equipped with a high performance CCTV installation courtesy of Bosch Security Systems.

The £250,000 surveillance network includes 130 cameras and housings, video switching, monitors and the very latest in Control Room equipment. Dinion cameras (boasting 540 TV lines resolution) are being provided alongside Bosch’s established AutoDomes and EnviroDomes. The set-up also includes a large Allegiant switching matrix capable of handling up to 256 cameras and 64 monitors, nine 16-channel Divar digital video recorders – linked to offer 3 Terabytes of storage for recorded video – plus alarm interfaces with 64 inputs and motion detection capabilities.

This contract represents the latest success for Bosch in the transportation sector, following on from other major contracts to provide complete CCTV solutions for London’s mainline rail stations, bridges, the London Underground and traffic/motorway schemes in and around the Capital.

The building of the new Eurostar interchange stations at Stratford and Dartford is part of a long-term project aimed at switching the service from Waterloo International to a new line terminating at St Pancras International. This route will eventually reduce journey times from London to Paris to a remarkable two hours and 35 minutes.

Major contractors involved in the project include the Costain-O’Rourke-Skanska/Bachy-Soletanche-Emcor Rail joint venture which won Phase 2 of the £5.2 billion Channel Tunnel Rail Link contract covering links from Stratford and the extension of St Pancras Station.
