Briman Joinery, one of the West Country’s leading and most successful bespoke joinery manufacturers, has seen its £1/2 million investment to double production capacity come to fruition with the official opening of its new Bridgwater, Somerset, factory. An additional £50,000 is being invested in new machinery to improve production efficiency.

On hand to perform the opening ceremony was Ian Lidell-Grainger MP, Bridgwater’s recently returned constituency member of parliament. At a gathering of invited guests from amongst customers, suppliers and business associates, the visit started with a tour of the new factory when Ian had the chance to talk to the company’s 27 staff who are already seeing the benefits of the additional 6000ft2 of production and office accommodation. The new building is an integral part of an enlarged facility on two levels providing staff with new office and canteen facilities.

Briman has seen demand for its specialist products continue to increase in popularity as more homeowners and self-builders opt for the natural look of a wide variety of timbers for their external and internal joinery when refurbishing older properties or restoring period dwellings. The demand from farmers and builders converting old barns and farm buildings for homes or holiday lets has continued to be strong across the South and South West and has helped generate the increased demand for windows, doors, glass screens and traditional roof trusses for these conversions.

Opening the new factory, Bridgwater’s newly returned MP said, ‘I congratulate Briman on their success and achievements over the last few years. I was very pleased to be able to make the award of Investor in People to the company just a year ago and am delighted that you are continuing to create new employment in the area’.

Commenting on this major landmark in the company’s development director Norman Hucker said, ‘We have seen the demand for high quality traditional joinery increase steadily over the past few years as part of the trend back to individual designs and traditional values in country properties and we have been ready and able to support this interest with bespoke windows, doors and staircases’.

Co-director Brian Hucker added, ‘We saw our sales break through the £1m mark last year and we are looking forward to adding a further £1/2m to this figure within the next year with the support of our talented and committed workforce whose efforts have been the key to achieving the success we have all shared in recent years’.
