Britain’s housing record has been criticised in a report by the United Nations committee on economic, social and cultural rights.
The document commends the Human Rights Act adopted by Labour since its last report in 1997. But it raises concerns about persistent discrimination in relation to marginal and vulnerable groups in society in a number of fields, including housing.
It also reiterates concerns about “considerable levels of poverty”, especially in certain parts of the country such as Northern Ireland and among ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.
