Businesses and their security managers are being warned that so-called 'hack attacks' on corporate IT networks are on the increase – and that the vast majority of end users are not protected against them.
The warning comes from Star Internet, one of the UK's leading Internet Service Providers, and follows hot on the heels of recent Government and industry-generated figures suggesting that over 60% of growing businesses have suffered severe IT security breaches in the last two years.

Star's chief technical officer Mark Sunner told SMT: "Too many companies believe they will not be targeted, especially the smaller corporate concerns.

"Often, they can't justify the expense of recruiting someone dedicated to IT security, while those that do have in-house experts will find that such employees are very often unqualified for dealing with more specific security problems."
