Bromford Housing Group has announced that it will bid for a major role in the English Partnerships-led urban extension project at Lawley, Telford.

However, English Partnerships has stated it is looking primarily for private development partners. It will send out a prospectus to potential bidders in early November and wants to have engaged a partner for the mixed-use scheme, which will include 3300 new homes, by April next year.

English Partnerships is the landowner of the 70 ha site and has signed up Jones Lang LaSalle to help appoint a private sector partner.

Tony Bowran, head of new business at Bromford HOusing Group, said: “We are confident and hopeful that there will be a substantial role for local housing associations.

“It is a very exciting project and we are keen to play a prominent and lead role.”
