The Manchester TRADING STANDARDS SERVICE HAS successfully prosecuted a locally-based security guarding company for giving a false trade description following information supplied by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA).
Executive Security Patrols (ESP) of Bartree House, 460 Palatine Road was prosecuted following information which the BSIA received suggesting that the company was falsely using the Association’s logo in its advertisements. As the company isn’t – and never has been – a Member Company of the BSIA, Trading Standards duly prosecuted and the contractor was fined £3,200 plus costs.
BSIA company secretary George Cross told SMT: “Our members must go through a rigorous application process before they can join. Given that the unauthorised use of our logo misleads customers, we really welcome this prosecution by Trading Standards.”
