Young installers were honoured at the BSIA's annual Apprentice Installer Awards presented at the BSIA's Annual Luncheon held at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The winners, chosen from a high number of nominations, were:

Steven Duncan of Initial Fire and Security (overall winner) described as "an asset to his branch and for whom customers have nothing but praise";

Jak Clark of Classic Security Solutions (national winner) said to "excel in communicating with clients and able to explain technical issues without confusing customers with complicated jargon";

Vincent Kirley of ADT Fire and Security (national winner) who "is now working as part of a seven strong team on one of the biggest electronic security projects in recent history".

The BSIA thanked Dedicated Micros for their sponsorship of the awards.

As well as the annual security officer awards, the event also honoured officers involved in the London bombings. The BSIA Special Awards for Outstanding Service, sponsored by the SIA and presented by Sir Ken Knight, Commissioner for the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, went to Marion Dooley and Aidan Harris (Britsec International); Terry Hughes (First Security Guards); Dodou Dandeh-Njie and Muhammad Khalil (G4S Security Services UK).

BSIA Chairman's Award winners were: (Contribution to Training) Jane McKenna, National Training Manager for Chubb Security Personnel; (Contribution to the Community) Raid-control partnership between Police, security and retail industries; (Services to Exporting) Syed Zaman, Senior Trade Investment Office at the British Embassy in Riyadh; (Promoting the Industry) Lord Mohammed Sheikh of Cornhill, Chairman and Chief Executive of Camberford Law; (Contribution to Standards) Brian Harrington of Castle CareTech and Paul Phillips of Cooper Security, both of whom "work tirelessly with the BSIA technical department" for the benefit of the industry.
