This time around, no less than 37 individuals and teams have been nominated across five different categories – Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team.
Speaking about the scheme – which is covered in-depth each year by SMT – BSIA chief executive David Dickinson commented: "Yet again we've received a very high standard of entries. Selecting the regional winners has been a very hard task indeed. I'm highly delighted to say that we have winners from all parts of the manned security sector, and from small, medium and larger-sized service providers."
Dickinson added: "With Security Industry Authority licensing due to commence in less than a year's time, these role models really do illustrate the potential of the private sector to provide valuable crime prevention support to the police and other agencies."
The regional winners – chosen by SITO director Stefan Hay, SMT Editor Brian Sims, Nigel Blackman (Editor of Security Officer and Team) and the BSIA's Stephen Adams, Tim Geddes and Alex Carmichael – will proceed to the national judging phase, culminating in the presentation of the national Security Officer of the Year Awards at the Association's Annual Lunch.
The 2004 awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday 7 July at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, and is sponsored for the fifth year in succession by Camberford Law plc.
"Government support for the security industry is crucial, particularly at such an important time with regulation already underway," added David Dickinson.
