Firm praised for ownership structure and pension scheme

Bucknall Austin has been named one of Britain’s top employers for the second year running. The firm has won a place on the Top Employers 2007 list alongside less than 100 other firms across all sectors. The list is compiled annually by the Guardian and the Corporate Research Foundation.

Companies were judged in nine areas, including career development, remuneration, benefits, corporate culture and environmental policies.

Bucknall was commended for being employee-owned, with a third of staff owning shares, and for its unusual pension scheme, which allows employees' national insurance contributions to be added to their pension pot.

Bucknall managing director Simon Birchall said: "This is clearly a great achievement for all of us. But we are also aware that to continue receiving such accolades we must keep our focus on continual improvement. We are open to hearing bright ideas for improvement in any of the areas the report assesses."
