This month's months Budget included new proposed technologies for inclusion on the Enhanced Capital Allowances scheme.
If approved, this will mean expansion of the energy technology list.

The proposed new technologies are: air to air energy recovery; compact heat exchangers; and hvac zone controls. There are also sub-technologies: condensing water heaters; air cooled condensing units; and gas engine driven heat pumps.

CIBSE president Terry Wyatt welcomed reduced VAT on ground source heat pumps: "This type of sustainable technology is well proven. The down side is that there are other sustainable energy technologies that would also benefit from tax reduction incentives."

The Carbon Trust is now urging manuafacturers to submit applications for products or to reapply under the amended criteria.
